BOSTON, MA February 27, 2004 -โ" Democratic hopeful John Kerry vowed to increase women's role in politics by appointing more women to top positions. โI would appoint more women to top positions than any other Administration and nominate women to top judicial branch positions,โ Kerry pledges in an upcoming interview for the Downtown Women's Club (DWC) weblog, a new blog called โTable Thoughtsโ for working women to launch Wednesday, February 25, 2004. The DWC is a national organization that focuses on empowering women in the workplace.
The full transcript of Kerry's remarks is available at www.DowntownWomensClub.com.
If elected president, Kerry also promises to improve glass ceiling issues and support women-owned businesses. โAs President, I will fight to expand opportunities for women and make pay equity a reality. My agenda includes improving enforcement of wage discrimination and improving disclosure of pay practices. The women of this country should not be shortchanged and must get 100 percent on the dollar for their hard work.

In keeping with the DWC focus on women in business, Senator Kerry was interviewed by DWC founder and executive director, Diane K. Danielson on a variety of economic issues including the outsourcing of jobs overseas, where the Senator said he would respond aggressively to the trend. Senator Kerry also promised to keep Social Security a viable program. โI won't allow Republicans to subject it to the unpredictable whims of the stock market,โ Kerry said.
โAnyone concerned with hearing Kerry's views on working women and other relevant issues should log onto our site,โ recommends Danielson, who founded the DWC in 1998.
