Government grants for women have existed for decades. All students, male and female, are included in the federal financing system without any discrimination. What has changed as of late is the emphasis presented by Pres. Obama in regard to wanting all single moms to go back to college. Here are a few reasons why grants for women is a hot topic.



First of all, we are in the middle of a recession which has forced our government to find a solution. The solution was the creation of an enormous stimulus package.



Part of this package was designed to stimulate growth and the educational sector so that more students would be compelled to go to school because they did not have to pay any fees.



The emphasis on women going back to college is primarily upon those that have children. It is a well known fact that single moms have very little time. The idea of them going back to college to finish their degree is a good thought, but with as many responsibilities as they currently have, it is difficult to conceive that they would be able to juggle all of that in the little time that they have.



That is why online classes were created. Many students found it impossible to leave their current situation and uproot their families for the sole purpose of finishing a college degree. Nowadays, you will see students of all ages and many of them are taking classes online.



There is some debate as to whether or not online classes are as useful as classes which are physically attended. My experience has shown that either type of class and the success rate of the cost depends upon the amount of effort given by the students.



Another bonus for women that are going to college is that many of them offer day care. If you are taking an online class, this is not applicable for you except in one way: because you're at home, you do not have to pay any extra money for a babysitter. You can do this work in the comfort of your own in your spare time in the evening after the kids have gone to sleep.



The final reason that grants for women is a hot topic right now is stimulation of the economy. The more women that are placed into the workforce, the higher the tax base will be and the quicker our economy will get back into its previous healthy state once again.
